A Little Birthday Party.....

This time of year is just hectic crazy for all of us I know and our family have birthdays added in also.  And this one this year is a big one for me.  Yep, the big 4 - 0.  So as my birthday is so close to Christmas we decided to celebrate a couple of weeks early and held a cocktail birthday bash last weekend.  I had the best time with my family and friends and they all spoilt me rotten (gotta love that!!).  So as I haven't been crafty AT ALL in the last month or more I thought I would share some details from my party with you.

The photo wall - yep, there are some shockers there!!

And my beautiful Cake - made by my talented friend Sharyn Mostran.

Welcome cocktails - yummo!!  Blue Curacao, Peach Schnapps and Lemonade.

And glasses ready for the rest of the cocktails from the cocktail bar.

Snacks!!

Champagne for the champagne bar!!

We danced and drank and I had the best time.  I loved planning all the details and the night was great.  Thank you to my family and friends for making my night so special.

And maybe soon I will get back to my craft desk to share something crafty with you, but this week I have a 10 year old birthday party to plan.  Celebrations everywhere!!
Cheers

Mud and Blood Cupcakes

Ok so I know halloween was a little while ago now and the train is heading towards Christmas at an alarming rate.  But I wanted to share these cupcakes with you that I made for the boys.  They are my Mud and Blood cupcakes!!  Bwahahahahahaha.................(that's my evil laugh by the way, can you hear it in your head?!?!).

I started with chocolate mud cakes and holed out the centre.

I used this cute little pink tool that I picked up at Robins Kitchen Store for a bargain.

Then I made a raspberry coulis with frozen raspberries and sugar and added it to the holes (ie. the blood!).

Add some orange frosting and here is what you end up with.  Cheery mud and blood cupcakes!  And they were delicious.
Cute little toppers aren't they?
All these ghouls loved them!
Hmmm, what else can I put inside my cupcakes!

Cheers

Photoshop Love & The Nevada Desert

I had a tragedy when I got home from our holiday......my computer died!!  Now I say it's a tragedy because my computer is like my right arm.  It was very hard to be without it.  The kids little laptop just did not cut it I'm afraid.  LOL.  So after searching and shopping we have finally ended up with a new computer (with a super huge 23"screen that I love) and I purchased the new Photoshop CS6 to install onto it.  HEAVEN.....I have photoshop back again.   So I have been editing some photos from our holiday and thought I would share.

These are from our trip across the Nevada desert, heading back to LA at the end of our holiday.

I love the shilouette of the first one and the rays off the top of the mountains in this last one.  These were all taken while the car was moving, no time for stopping.............we were late to the airport as it was so lucky we didn't stop!!   I kept myself amused on the loooong trip by taking these photos out the window.  I even took some side mirror portraits - please don't judge me! LOL
I will share more as I play with them.  And will have sneak peeks later of my Christmas Wishes workshop for next Thursday (there is only one spot left by the way..............do you want to join us??)

Cheers

Holiday's Are Over

Well I have been missing from here for nearly a month now, and there is a very good reason for that.  We just took a family trip to the States and had a fantastic time.  Our first stop was New York City.  I love that place.  We spent a week there and it was full on.  We walked and went on the subway and saw as much as we could in the week.

Then we went off to Anaheim for Disneyland, Hollywood and Universal Studios.  I loved the theme parks and Disneyland was just magical.

Then for our last couple of days we went to Las Vegas.  I LOVED IT!!!  So much to do and we only had a little bit of time, so I may just have to go back there again someday.

We had a fantastic time and were sad to leave.  However, it is nice to be home and getting back into the swing of things with Scrap Alley Designs.  I am busy working on some journals and other projects for the Handmade and Boutique Market that I will be at next Friday 26th October at Erina Fair.  I will be sure to share the images of them when I am finished here.  But if you are in the area next Friday, drop by to say hello.

Getting Started on Christmas

It is time to get started on your Christmas cards so that you have a stash big enough to send to everyone.  I started with this class I taught recently at Catchy Crafts.

I used one of my favourite sets of Nestabilities - 2010 Heirloom Ornament

Added some rosettes with the Tim Holtz die.

Have you started your Christmas Cards yet?

11th Anniversary of September 11

(image from ussatf.org)

Hard to believe that 11 years have gone by since I sat and watched the terrible act of terrorism that took place against these buildings and it's occupants from my lounge room here in Australia.  And two years ago I got to visit the site of this destruction.  What a surreal experience that was.  To stand opposite the site of the twin towers site, on the streets where I saw images on my television of people racing from the terror.  It was quite emotional.

And we will visit again next week to see what they have erected in their place.  In memory of the 2823 people who lost their lives on this day 11 years ago.  I am sure it will be emotional again.

Thanks for stopping by
